What is this "game" you are referring to? Is it the game of revenge that gives us satisfation?
I
agree that the desire for revenge can be supressed, but the thought of
it will keep coming back for a longer period of time. For example, if
someone stole your boyfriend/girlfriend or made you an embarrassment in
front of others and you took no revenge, the memory of the event would
probably stay in your memory longer. Even though you try to supress it,
the thought of revenge will still be there. It is like what we learned
in lecture 2 about Freudian Theory: sexual thoughts come up
unconciously and are then supressed and denied. You can teach yourself
all you want to not take revenge or not think about sex, but it I think
it will always come up again. Our brains just work that way.
Also,
I think I have an idea about the "female who is really hot" situation,
but I'm not really sure what "game" you are talking about. Is it where
the researchers see if people take revenge when they are cheated on by
their boyfriend/girlfriends? |
